The site began operations in October 2015 and consists of 13 Vestas, V80 turbines. It is accredited under the Renewables Obligation scheme at 0.9 ROCs. The project sells the electricity it generates to Statkraft Markets GmbH under a long-term PPA.
FGEN acquired 100% of the site in June 2016. Since acquisition, the team have subsequently installed aftermarket power enhancement packages, which are expected to increase generation by an additional 1.9 % per annum adding nearly £2 million to the net present value of the project.
Dungavel wind farm makes an annual community benefit contribution of £60,000 (index-linked) to South Lanarkshire Council. The Council administer the ‘renewable energy fund’, which will benefit from the annual contribution for the 25-year operational life of the project. These contributions represent a total investment in local initiatives from Dungavel wind farm of £1.5 million, before inflation, over the life of the project.
In addition to the benefits to the community, the project is party to a Habitat Management Plan designed to enhance biodiversity and create a newly formed environmental enhancement area.
